The Etiquette of GolfCross
All the usual rules of golfing etiquette apply in golfcross, with the following additions and exceptions.
Chaining up
Re–attaching the chain to the crossbar after all players have goaled out is one of the most important rules of etiquette in golfcross. The chain can only be attached when the goal is in the facing position, thus ensuring it is ready for the next players. Failure to leave the goal in the facing position is similar to forgetting to return the pin to the hole in golf. Players seldom forget to pick up the chain and clip it back onto the crossbar but if they do, it can put those that follow at a disadvantage. This is because the next players must either walk up and turn it to the correct position before shooting for goal or accept the position it has been left in as the facing position. A note reminding players to chain up before leaving the yard is often included on signs which mark the direction of the next tee.
Goaled balls
In order to speed up yardwork, balls are not usually removed from the goal until the last player has goaled out.
Coming on
In stroke play, whenever a player plays from outside the yard, the goal must be in the facing position. While a player on the yard may be farther from the goal than the player off the yard and should therefore play first, it is usual for players off the yard to be invited on first so as to avoid unnecessary goal turning.
Dress
Dress for comfort. Golfcross has no dress code.
